HDTVColorado, Colorado's high definition television information sourceThe Plan to Bring Free Over-the-Air Digital TV to Front Range ColoradoFor years, the Lake Cedar Group stations, CBS 4, Denver’s 7, 9 News and UPN 20, have been working with Jefferson County to create a consolidated tower on Lookout Mountain for digital broadcasting. The plan would remove four towers and replace them with a single, shorter tower. Not-in-my-backyard groups and the Golden City Council are using misinformation and fear to stop the consolidated tower.CSU Lookout Mountain Study ResultsThe CSU study of Lookout Mountain is one of thousands that have examined Radio Frequency (RF) and health. The CSU study confirms what the vast body of scientific research shows: there is no coherent evidence to support the idea that RF levels below the safety guidelines lead to adverse effects on health. The CSU researchers studied three areas of possible biological effects of RF exposure: melatonin production and excretion, oxidative DNA damage, and markers of immune system activity.
In short, the CSU researchers made about 200 different comparisons among the test results for blood and urine samples they took from volunteers on Lookout Mountain. They found only a few statistically significant variations out of all of that testing and those variations could show up in any human population you studied, say, a group of people from the lunch time crowd on the 16th Street Mall in Denver. Not only is there a lack of evidence that these small variations are specifically caused by RF levels, but also the size of the changes detected cannot be expected to have any impact on health. It is important to understand that because of the large number of calculations, more than 200, that were performed on the blood and urine test results from Lookout Mountain, it is likely a few results will reach statistical significance based on random variation alone.
